KilleKill Postcast #004 // Bill Youngman

Bill Youngman has been a soldier of the live electronic music scene since 1994. In the mid 90’s after numerous years of musical training and drumming/guitar work, Youngman found his passion for drum computers and analog machines. His first output on Serotonin records in 1996 displayed his rendition of electronica. “Electrostep” is what he called it. All tempos were allowed and all sounds were hand made. A very melodic and beat conscious individual.

Tresor.Cast #002 - Puresque

“The month of November marked the introduction of Puresque on Tresor Records, new production duo extraordinaire from Berlin.

Puresque is Paul Brtschitsch and Mocca—Paul whose discography stretches back to the mid-90s and is widely regarded for his sensitive sound arrangements both on record and live, and Mocca—real name Michael Kunz—who has been simmering his sonic pallet on the Berlin circuit over the last few years. They met over a mutual love of vinyl and entered the studio together with the desire to create something raw, as removed as possible from the synthetic feel of purely digital production.

Following “Vor Leitmotiv” their first EP on Tresor Records, Puresque are presenting this mix as a further glimpse inside their very own world. Also officially announced, is Puresque’s debut album, “Leitmotiv” is set to come in mid-February 2012 on Tresor.” - Tresor Berlin

Zealot - Surgeon Discography (Nov. 2011)

“Birmingham techno artist Anthony Child has rapidly built a solid and, to a certain extent, innovative catalog of minimal dancefloor techno since his Surgeon releases began appearing in 1991. Compared favorably with Detroit original Jeff Mills from his earliest Downwards singles on forward, Child’s tracks have been a mainstay in the popular Motor City DJ’s sets. Although Surgeon releases have worked an increasing affectation for acid and trance, an economy of sound and basic hardness combine his and Mills’ sound. […]” - Resident Advisor

Deepsounds – Tribute to Robert Hood / Pt. 1

“Before I got into this music I wanted to be an originator; I wanted to be original. I wanted to keep true to the sound of the original Detroit people at the same time, but I knew I couldn’t be like Derrick May or Juan Atkins. I have to be Robert Hood. I had to look inside myself and say ‘What do you like, what do you want to hear ?’ What I’ve always wanted to hear: the basic stripped down, raw sound. Just drums, basslines and funky grooves and only what’s essential. Only what is essential to make people move.

I started to look at it as a science, the art of making people move their butts, speaking to their heart, mind and soul. That’s the only thing I focussed on and that’s M-Plant. It’s the M-Plant in every person’s mind that is speaking through your heart, through your soul and is making you dance in the process. To me rave was just samples. True techno, the true sound of it is a science.” - Robert Hood
